A font based on writings in 17th and 18th century mural paintings from Leksand and around the Dalecarlia county in Sweden. Some writings are poorly conducted, as the painter sometimes couldn't read or write. This resulted in some unique and interesting letter shapes, which I have used as inspiration for the characters.
The name "Heredeno" derives from an old letter, which dates back to 1325. This is the first time the name of the village, where I grew up, is mentioned. Though with a different spelling.
With some letters missing, I had to reconstruct them from existing shapes, to make them cohesive with the rest. The letters forms are based and constructed on the dozenal system, as are the grid and the stroke weights. Big thanks to Kristian Möller (type designer) for both technical and conceptual guidance. Also thanks to Norrmalms Kartongfabrik for help with the packaging.
